William Hessel Library
Interlibrary Loan Policy
LMC students and employees needing resources not held in the
LMC library can request materials via the Interlibrary Loan link.
To search and request items online, go to http://www.lakemichigancollege.edu/lib/interloan.html
Interlibrary loan requests can take ten (10) or more working days
to fill, so advanced planning is necessary to receive materials
in time. Occasionally, lending libraries may charge a fee for
interlibrary loans. Once the library staff receives approval from
the library patron that they accept the fee amount, payment of
these fees become the responsibility of the Lake Michigan College
Library patron. The library will not request required class
textbooks.
A MichiCard sticker can be placed on a LMC patron's ID card if
he or she wishes to go to other participating MichiCard libraries
to check out those libraries' materials. MichiCard is a statewide
library card system designed to give Michigan residents access
to library collections outside of their hometown.
LMC patrons may use a Berrien Library Consortium Infopass to
check out materials from the James White Library at Andrews Unversity.
MichiCards and Infopasses for LMC patrons are available at the
library circulation desk.
Borrowing materials from other libraries is a privilege not a
right. Respecting the policies of lending libraries is very important
in assuring our continued access to other libraries resources.
