Bernard C. Radde Distinguished Service Award: Judith Buchalski

Judith Buchalski was awarded the Bernard C. Radde Distinguished Service Award in 2007.

For over 30 years, Judith Buchalski has been inspiring Lake Michigan College psychology students. Her courage to embark upon innovative programs has given students opportunities that many undergraduates don’t typically experience until later in their academic careers.

Under Judy’s tutelage, her students learn and execute research practices, which put them at a distinct advantage once they move on to four-year programs. Judy’s students also have the opportunity to be published. In 1992, she created the Lake Michigan College Journal of Psychology to showcase her students’ research work. She also founded the College’s Psi Beta chapter, the national honor society for community college psychology students.

Judy’s dedication to her students and to LMC has been recognized with the Outstanding Faculty Employee and Outstanding Overall Employee of the Year awards. She has also received a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence award, and a Professional Development grant.
