Lake Michigan College is proud to strengthen area businesses and organizations by providing essential services like employee and intern recruitment, Custom Workforce Training and spaces for meetings and events. 

LMC collaborates with employers and relevant community organizations to seek out and increase work-based learning opportunities for students and to meet needs of regional community and business customers. The Workforce Outreach director also promotes the Whirlpool Earn and Learn Internship program to students, businesses and the college community and coordinates company visits and on-campus job fairs.

Local businesses are encouraged to post open positions on the LMC job board hosted by Handshake. Positions are advertised to students, alumni and community members.

Lake Michigan College provides free recruitment and placement services for employers seeking short-term student interns. Hiring an intern not only provides extra help to you, it helps a future generation of professionals gain valuable real-world experience.  

LMC provides businesses with:

  • A source of student workers for part-time or short-term needs
  • An opportunity to pre-screen potential hires with no obligation
  • An avenue for direct input into college education and training

LMC will advertise your internship opportunity and facilitate interviews with your chosen candidates before hiring. A representative from LMC will perform a site visit and follow up evaluations.

The Earn and Learn Program sponsored by the Whirlpool Foundation is designed to encourage LMC students and local businesses to participate in student internship programs, and provides funds for part of the wages for student interns hired by approved employers. From dinners for 1,000 guests in the Grand Upton Hall, to business gatherings for a dozen people in one of our many meeting rooms, The Mendel Center is one of the region’s most versatile conference, meeting and performance centers. The Mendel Center houses two impressive performance stages and 12 customizable meeting spaces with room for 10 to 1,600 people.

The Apprentice Training Department works with over forty companies that have active apprenticeship programs and is available to assist with developing new programs.
