- Set up an appointment with your LMC Academic Advisor.
- Complete your online Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR).

Lake Michigan College Free Textbook Program (FTP)
Eligibility Criteria:
Student must be Community College Guarantee* eligible and:
- Must be a 2023 or 2024 high school graduate and,
- Must have graduated from an in-district high school and,
- If the student graduated with a homeschool or GED diploma, they are eligible if they are classified as in-district.
- High school transcripts are required for eligibility and should be sent to the Admissions Department.
- Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) at LMC and,
- Must be in good (aid-eligible) SAP standing and,
- Refer to the Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress policy for aid-eligible statuses.
- Must be classified as an in-district resident. Refer to the Residency Policy.
- Residency for this requirement is based on the student’s permanent address and does not take on-campus housing, VA status, or other exceptions into consideration.
- Classification is based on the permanent/home address ZIP code of the student.
OR:
- Students who attended Lake Michigan College (LMC or the College) under the Red Hawk Futures (RHF) scholarship program during the 23/24 school year and are continuing full-time enrollment at LMC for the 24/25 academic year while continuing to meet RHF criteria are eligible for free textbooks.

Community College Guarantee
Beginning Fall 2024, students from the Class of 2023 and beyond are eligible for the Community College Guarantee, which includes:
- In-district tuition, contact hours, and mandatory fees.
- An additional $1,000 bonus living expenses award for students eligible for a Federal Pell Grant.
*Eligibility Criteria:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Be a Michigan resident since July 1 of the previous calendar year.
- If you’re a dependent student, your parent(s) must also be a Michigan resident since July 1 of the previous calendar year.
- Graduate from a Michigan high school.
- You’re eligible if you earn a diploma or certificate of completion.
- You’re also eligible if you earned a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after.
- Enroll in college. You must be:
- Enrolled full-time. Your college will confirm how many credits are needed to be full-time.
- Enrolled within 15 months of your high school graduation.
- Class of 2023 spring graduates: Must enroll by Fall semester 2024.
- Class of 2024 spring graduates: Must enroll by Fall semester 2025.
- If you graduated at a different time of year and are concerned about initiating in time, contact your school's financial aid office.
