Alumni Service Award: Nancy Conybeare
Nancy Conybeare attended Benton Harbor Junior College, a predecessor of LMC, after graduation from St. Joseph High School. She earned her Associate in Arts degree in 1959, and took the next several years to start her family. When Nancy’s youngest entered school, she followed a childhood dream and enrolled in LMC’s then recently introduced registered nursing (RN) program.
In 1978, she earned her second LMC degree, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Health Studies from Western Michigan University, and coursework toward a master’s degree in health care administration. This led to a rewarding career with Lakeland Hospital as an oncology nurse, in-patient rehabilitation case manager, and director of Quality Assurance.
In 2000, Nancy returned to the place that had allowed her to live her dream, this time as director of Development for the College. In that role, Nancy supported the Fulfill the Dream campaign that raised $5.2 million and established 40 new scholarships.
In addition, Nancy has held a variety of community-based leadership roles with the Rotary Club of Benton Harbor - Sunrise and First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ, among others.
Nancy Conybeare received an Alumni Service Award in 2010.
