Bernard C. Radde Distinguished Service Award: Stephen and Carol Sizer

The Bernard C. Radde Distinguished Service Award was presented to Stephen and Carol Sizer in 2010.

Stephen and Carol Sizer of Harbert have an undeniable passion for the performing arts. By coupling that passion with a true spirit of generosity, they have helped to ensure that the arts will flourish at Lake Michigan College well into the future.

Their Steinway donation set into motion the process of LMC being the first institution of higher education in Michigan, and only the second community college in the nation, to receive the All-Steinway School Designation. In celebration of the milestone, LMC music faculty performed at New York City’s Steinway Hall in 2008 – a performance at which Carol and Steve assisted as narrators.

Steve and Carol have been longtime supporters of the Mendel Center Mainstage as donors to the campaign that funded completion of the facility in the early 1990s.
They then continued to support the Mainstage through membership in Premier Partners. They have also been frequent donors to the LMC Winner’s Circle Auction,
which raises money for general College scholarships.

Additionally, Steve and Carol are active leaders and performers in Twin City Players, and participate in other community organizations.
