Greetings from President Kubatzke

Unlike many of the nation’s colleges and universities that opened only to send students home after mass COVID-19 outbreaks, LMC acted quickly and decisively in June to prepare for a Fall semester that keeps students learning safely and successfully without undue disruption from the pandemic. We also discounted Fall tuition by 10 percent to help families who were struggling financially.

Our faculty prepared a variety of flexible, remote and in-person classes that enable students to get hands-on instruction when it’s essential, and online interaction when it’s not. We’re learning more everyday about how to make the Spring semester even better.

Spring is an exceptional time to become an LMC Red Hawk because of the Futures for Frontliners scholarship program, which offers free tuition for Michigan’s essential workers. Act fast because the deadline to apply is Dec. 31.

Our Campus Transformation project is now complete, and we look forward to welcoming you all when it is safe to experience our beautifully renovated Benton Harbor Campus in-person. In the meantime, we hope to see you virtually for our Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in January.

I also hope you’ll join us in celebrating Lake Michigan College’s 75th anniversary in 2021. We’re proud of our long legacy of educational excellence in the communities we serve. We couldn’t do it without the support of our area employers, industries, partner organizations and families.

Like our inspiring students who are persevering toward their goals and dreams, we are also doing our best to use this tumultuous time for reflection, innovation and improvement. I am confident we’ll come out of this time stronger than ever, together.

Sincerely,

Dr. Trevor A. Kubatzke, President, Lake Michigan College
