Jeremy Burleson named director of Niles Campus
Jeremy Burleson, who has been the Director of Lake Michigan College’s South Haven Campus since February 2016, is now overseeing LMC’s Niles Campus as well.
In August, Burleson was named Director of Regional Campuses, overseeing daily operations, including student services, academic programs, community education, and public events in both South Haven and Niles.
“I have a lot of plans and a lot of goals, but I’m just excited to be able to reach out to a new group of students to help them succeed at Lake Michigan College,” Burleson said. “I have great relationships with students and community members in South Haven, and I want to do the same for our students and community members in and around Niles.”
Before coming to LMC, Burleson earned a bachelor’s degree in education and history from Central Michigan University, a master’s degree in history from Fort Hayes State University, and a School Administration Leadership Certificate from the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals.
In his primary role as chief advocate for LMC’s campuses both north and south of Benton Harbor, Burleson plans to work closely with area high schools and community members to meet students’ needs.
In South Haven, Burleson continues his efforts to build enrollment and explore the potential for additional degree and certificate options in everything from craft brewing to drone piloting to physical therapy.
In Niles, his goals include strengthening the Early College program, exploring the potential of adding a Medical Assisting degree and creating a Middle College Medical Assisting program for high school students. Burleson will also oversee LMC’s new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) short-term training program, which prepares students for a career as a commercial truck driver.
“Truck drivers are in great demand, and LMC is the proud owner of two semi-trucks, which students will use to help them achieve their CDL education,” Burleson said. “This program is now up and running, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it in its infancy. So, keep your eyes out for our trucks on US-31 and I-96.”
