Lake Michigan College recognized as 2022 ALL IN Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) has recognized Lake Michigan College as part of its 2022 ALL IN Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting.
The ALL IN Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting recognizes colleges and universities for intentionally increasing nonpartisan student voter registration, education, and turnout and ensuring equitable access to the polls for the campus community.
LMC joins a group of 394 colleges and universities recognized by ALL IN for its student participation. It is the first time LMC and its LMC Votes program have been named to ALL IN Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting. LMC was the only community college in Michigan to be recognized for its "Ask Every Student" efforts and among just 184 colleges and universities nationally to receive this designation for 2022.
Institutions had to:
- Participate in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
- Share 2020 NSLVE Reports with campus voting data with ALL IN
- Develop and submit a 2022 democratic engagement action plan with ALL IN
- Have a current signatory to ALL IN's Higher Education Presidents' Commitment to Full Student Voter Participation.
"At Lake Michigan College, we strive each day to connect our students to their future," said Lake Michigan College President Trevor Kubatzke. "Helping our students discover their voice in our democratic process is just another example of that. Through programs such as LMC Votes and the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, our political science faculty can provide real-life opportunities that will remain with our students long after they leave our campuses."
This year represented the second-highest youth voter turnout rate for a midterm election in the past 30 years. Young people decided the outcomes of critical races in Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
"College student voter turnout has increased since 2016, and students have driven this increase. The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge is excited to expand our ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll to recognize these student voting champions across the country," said Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, Executive Director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. "These students registered voters, served on their campus voting coalitions, spearheaded voter education efforts, advocated for campus polling locations, and organized other voter engagement efforts to ensure their peers were confident and informed voters. We are excited to see what they continue to accomplish."
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge empowers colleges and universities to achieve excellence in nonpartisan student democratic engagement. Campuses that join the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge complete a set of action items, with the support of ALL IN Challenge staff, to institutionalize nonpartisan civic learning, political engagement, and voter participation on their campus. The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge engages over 9 million students from over 960 institutions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

ABOUT ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) is a national, nonpartisan initiative of Civic Nation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
