ACTE names Dr. Ken Flowers as Region I Postsecondary Professional of the Year

Dr. Ken Flowers, Lake Michigan College's Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs, was named Postsecondary Professional of the Year during the Association of Career and Technical Education Region I Conference held May 1-4 in New York City.

Flowers previously won the Postsecondary Professional of the Year award in January from the Michigan Career Education Conference for making significant contributions toward Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs while demonstrating a strong commitment toward CTE throughout Michigan. At the Region I Conference, his work again stood out amongst his peers representing the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia.

The ACTE Region I award now qualifies Flowers for consideration as the 2025 National ACTE Postsecondary Professional of the Year at the National ACTE VISION Conference, which takes place in December in San Antonio, Texas.

"I am truly honored and grateful to be named the Association for Career and Technical Education Region I Postsecondary Professional of the Year," Flowers said. "This recognition is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team at LMC. It reflects our shared commitment to advancing career and technical education, empowering students, and preparing them for success in the ever-evolving workforce."

Flowers, a St. Joseph resident, is a proud LMC graduate and former faculty member who served as LMC's Dean of Career and Workforce Education. In his current role, Flowers serves as the College's chief academic officer, providing administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for faculty affairs.

ACTE provides educational leadership to develop a competitive workforce. It strives to empower educators to deliver high-quality CTE programs that ensure all students are positioned for career success. For more information about ACTE, visit acteonline.org.
