Sociology & Social Work

The driving forces in society

Why study sociology and social work at LMC?

Nothing happens in a vacuum. You’ve heard this a million times – but sociology teaches you what it means. You’ll learn about social forces and how they influence behavior and decisions.

Change will do you good. Those social forces are also how change in society happens. With a combination of lectures and class discussions, you’ll learn to identify patterns, analyze movements and understand social change.

Expand your horizons. Careers in sociology are more common than you might think. Researching and teaching are more traditional routes, but you could also consult with governments and other businesses. If you’re looking to help people on a day-to-day basis, social work is a challenging – but rewarding – career in the sociology field.
