Dr. Bohm has been the lead faculty in political science since 2016. She received her PhD in Political Science from Northern Illinois University, with a specialization in American Government and International Relations. Her research interests include political behavior, public policy related to national security, civil military relationships and youth voter engagement.
Dr. Bohm currently directs the LMC Votes! Program at Lake Michigan College. The program is a grant-funded initiative to inform and engage youth voters in southwest Michigan. While serving as director, Dr. Bohm supervises two student fellows annually, secures funding and recently earned the coveted “Highly Established Action Plan” designation from the ALL IN Voter Challenge (2024).
While frequently a presenter at academic conferences, Dr. Bohm also served on the Students Learn, Students Vote national advisory board in 2023. She spearheaded organizing a chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) on campus with over 100 students inaugurated in the first semester (spring 2024). Additionally, Dr. Bohm is a reviewer of discipline specific textbooks and journal articles and a sought after guest speaker for local events.
Dr. Bohm has taught at Governors State University, Purdue University, and Prairie State College. She received her Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University, holds a M.S. in International Relations from Troy University and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of North Dakota.
