Meeting the demand for bilingualism
With a growing demand for bilingualism in the workplace, and the increasing socioeconomic power of Spanish speaking communities in our area, this certificate will be essential in industries ranging from hospitality and education to business administration and journalism. The Certificate can be earned by completing four classes, available at the Benton Harbor, South Haven, and Niles campuses. For students with Spanish language experience, testing options are available to move to the intermediate level.
These courses meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements and are designed with both career and transfer in mind. If you are planning to transfer to a four-year college or university, you should become familiar with your chosen school’s requirements. See your Academic Advisor for assistance in developing your Student Education Plan (SEP) or visit the Transfer webpage.
Upon completion of the Spanish Language certificate program, you may apply for the Certificate of Achievement. This allows you to enter the job market with basic, entry-level skills. Credit earned also can be applied toward your associate degree.
