LMC, CMW hold auditions June 21 for University Workshop

Lake Michigan College Performing Arts Department in partnership with Children's Music Workshop will hold auditions for their joint University Workshop 12-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 21 at The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College.
 
The audition-based workshop is open to students entering grades 6 through age 20. CMW University consists of a full week of skill-building classes in drama, singing, and dancing 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 22-26 with a showcase performance at 5:30 p.m. July 26. The program includes musical theatre coaching, dance, audition, scene study, character building, vocal technique, and much more. CMW University is designed for serious theatre students who wish to improve their performance skills.
 
Students auditioning must prepare 32 bars of music and a 1-minute age-appropriate monologue. Students also will learn and perform a short dance routine at auditions, so dress to move!
 
If selected based on auditions, students will be asked to fill out registration forms and submit a registration fee of $200. Scholarships are available.
 
CMW provides theatrical productions for children of any ethnic, cultural and economic background, grades 1-12, in a nurturing, safe atmosphere of wholesome activity.  They help children build confidence and self-esteem while learning teamwork and the joy of expressing themselves through dance, music and drama and community service.
