Lake Michigan College has announced the names of 665 students recognized for academic achievement during the 2020 Fall semester. 

With March marking the first anniversary of Michigan's first COVID-19 cases, members of LMC's 2020 nursing class reflect on their journey from students to essential workers fighting on healthcare's frontlines. 

Lake Michigan College Foundation announced today that the 2021 Winner’s Circle Benefit Auction, originally scheduled for March 6 is being postponed and may be reimagined in its 31st year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  

Now is the Time! The MLK Celebration Week, a free, virtual, community-wide effort inspired by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail," opened festivities Monday morning with an inspiring kickoff celebration. 

Lynn Todman, Vice President of Health Equity at Spectrum Health Lakeland, Jada Willis, Miss Benton Harbor 2020, and the Race Relations Council of Southwest Michigan are the featured recipients of the inaugural Spirit of MLK Spotlights.

Lake Michigan College has canceled the 2021 seasons for both men’s and women’s basketball due to COVID-19. Volleyball is scheduled to continue as planned.

Now is the Time! The MLK Celebration Week, a free, virtual, community-wide effort inspired by King’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail," takes place Jan. 18-22. This event, presented by Lake Michigan College, Whirlpool Corp., and supporting sponsors Kinexus Group, Horizon Bank and United Way of Southwest Michigan, features speakers, performances, round table discussions, a virtual food drive, historic and local trivia contests, and more.

Lake Michigan College has honored five alumni with annual awards.he Clarence Beckwith Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to  former LMC Foundation Executive Director Mary Lippert Klemm. The Alumni Service Award was presented to Larry Wozniak of Stevensville. The Alumni Achievement Award was presented to both Dr. Praise Matemavi and Rodrigo Abarca. The Bernard C. Radde Distinguished Service Award, meanwhile, was presented to Edward J. Todd.

Lake Michigan College will delay the start of its Spring semester to give students extra time to register for classes and help prevent post-holiday spread of COVID-19. Classes were originally scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 and will now begin Tuesday, Jan. 19.
