Associate Degrees (2 years)

Start to finish at the Lake

To earn an associate degree, you’ll take general education classes similar to the ones you took in high school like English, math, and history. You’ll also take classes related to your field of interest. Most students complete associate degrees in two years. If, however, you earned early college credits in high school or already have some general education classes under your belt, you might be able to finish in as little as one year. With more than 50 associate degrees to choose from at LMC, you can put your passions to work in any field that interests you.

If your career goals require a four-year degree, you can save tens of thousands of dollars by completing your first two years at LMC. Our friendly advisors can help you decide whether an associate degree or a transfer to a four-year college or university is best for you.

Associate degrees usually take two years for students with a full-time course load. They are equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor's degree at a four-year school. These programs focus on career education and will prepare you for a well-paying, in-demand career. You may want to earn an associate degree and enter the workforce or transfer to a university, depending on your career goals.

You can select from many areas of study that will lead to one of the following degrees: Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, Associate in General Studies, or Associate in Business Administration.

Your job prospects will be broader. By the year 2025, over 60% of jobs in Michigan will require a college degree, but currently only 35% of residents have one. You will stand out from the crowd and be prepared for more responsibility in your career.

You could earn more money. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2017, full-time workers with an associate degree earned more than $200 a week more than workers with only a high school diploma!

You'll be done before you know it! Many students can complete an associate degree in only two years, putting you out in the workforce with your new skills and credentials in a very short time. You can do it!
